What is MD5?
The MD5 (Message-Digest Algorithm) is cryptographic hash function that generates a 128-bit hash value. MD5 is used in to check data integrity and in security applications. In other words MD5 checksum is like a fingerprint of the file. There is a very small possibility that two identical MD5 hash values are generated of two different files. That is way MD5 hashes have a lot of uses, some of which are: detecting data changes, storing or generating strong passwords, making unique keys in databases and ensuring message integrity. The MD5 algorithm is designed to be quite fast on 32-bit machines. In addition, the MD5 algorithm does not require any large substitution tables; the algorithm can be coded quite compactly. With this MD5 generator you can easily calculate MD5 hashes online.
WHAT WE DO: Our online MD5 Online is a free online utility to calculate and verify the MD5 checksum of any file on your hard disk, it will generate the hash string on the client side without uploading your file to the server, so the calculating speed is very rapid. MD5 Online supports large files up to 4GB, and could create the MD5 string for any text. To use MD5 Online, a modern Internet browser that supports HTML5 is required, such as FireFox 3.6+, Chrome 6.0+, Safari 6.0+, Opera 11.1+ and IE 10.0+. Because this app is online, it’s platform independent, which means that it supports all mainstream operating systems including Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
